In the early days of its implementation, this shield was extremely rare and difficult to obtain as there were far less creatures that Dropped Demonic Essence , and back then there weren't as many brave players to even fight the demonic hordes, so gathering the 1,500 required was quite a huge achievement.
Also a lot of players opted for the Necromancer Shield , because the Female Brotherhood was (and still is) one of the most popular outfits among players, so the Nightmare has always been the rarer of the 2 because of this, even today.
Besides its awesome design, it grants very good protection without any vocational bounds, as well as providing a very bright Red light.
