In the beginning of August, we conducted a survey concering power abuse on Optional PvP game worlds. Several thousand randomly selected players who have a character of a certain level on an Optional PvP game world had been invited to participate. The vast majority of these players confirmed that power abuse is indeed a problem there and that the spell exiva is contributing to the problem, at least to a certain extent. Many players opted for a change concerning this spell in the survey, either for a complete removal, or at least for restrictions to it.
So we have decided to work on a way to allow players to restrict exiva on Optional PvP game worlds and would like to present this to you in a dev note in the Auditorium.
There are no changes planned concerning exiva on any other game world types, please keep this in mind.
We would really appreciate your feedback and have prepared a set of questions for you. Please help us by posting your answers in the designated thread until August 24, 10:00 CEST.
Restricting Exiva on Optional PvP Game Worlds
There will be a new icon in the client UI with which you can open a dialog window similar to the already exisiting ignore list dialog for chat messages.
The default setting is that nobody is allowed to cast exiva on your character.
In the dialog you can give permission to the following groups, by ticking them of in check boxes:
Everybody is allowed to exiva your character.
Everybody from your GUILD is allowed to exiva your character.
PARTY MEMBERS are allowed to exiva your character.
In addition to this, you can activate...
...a WHITE LIST in which you can enter single character names to grant them the exiva right.
...a BLACK LIST to exclude single characters.
White List and Black List dominate over the group permissions you have granted, thus making it possible to exclude single characters from your guild, for example.
Please note that during a guild war, members of your own guild and the opposing guild will always be able to find your character with exiva.
Do you actively play on an Optional PvP game world?
What negative points do you see concerning this suggestion?
Which option do you prefer in the following scenario - character that casts "exiva" on a character but doesn't have permission to do so, will receive a message that he's not allowed to so, and will:
a) lose mana for the spell.
b) not lose mana for the spell.
Concerning the option to open the dialog, what would you prefer:
a) a button above the chat console, next to the button that let's you handle the ingore list and white list for chat messages.
b) the dialog would be accessible via the VIP list window.
c) a different location, I would suggest:
Would you add anything to this suggestion or make changes? If yes, please explain.
